  1. so this is just forwarding tv signal from your home to a laptop connected to internet?

Thats kindo’ missing the point isnt it? You’d need to pay for TV contract and a mobile internet contract.

why not pay to have content on your homeTV, laptop and mobile device (smartphone, iphone) in 1 contract?

  2. how cant you connect from a different country – are you using like another broadband overseas to log in ? then can only watch what ‘your house’ is watching ?

  3. nope it works normal….as long as they are watching tv and you are the only one using the slingbox……only one tv or computer can use the slingbox at a time

  4. yep ive got the same as you….works awesome…..at work and when im traveling out of the usa….

  5. hey whats gay is football …a bunch of men grabbing and feeling each other for a ball…..discovery channel is learing something…..how old are you…11?

  6. hey dumbass its for when ya traveling and not home….mine works awesome…i use it while im at work or out of the country

  7. wat happens if your tv is off or your tivo???? will it still work?

  8. the reason i would get a slingbox is for watching tv in my room while my dad is downstairs watching. But you cant if hes watching some gay discovery channel and you wanna watch football you cant have different channels. AM I RIGHT? Please let me know

  9. because if you are on the road away from your home, you can still access your TV or Tivo from anywhere in the world. Its great to use while at the airport, on a train, by the pool, etc… It isn’t meant to make your PC screen into your main television – just give you access to TV content away from the home.

  10. ok now I understand using this to watch tv on the road but why in the world would I want to watch tv on my 17in computer monitor vs my 40 inch big screen tv.

  11. I got one of these this month and this shit rulez. definently get the verizon broadband usb laptop connect card for the high speed internet or you wont be able to watch this on the road without high speed internet away from home. it does buffer but as you maintain one scheduled program its connection strengthens for better viewing. 9 out of 10.

  12. I am wondering, Can the Slingbox be used on non standard ports so more than one can be behind the same nated ip?

  13. The max resolution of any Sling box over a home network or any network is 640×480 and the normal resolution is 320×240. This is not even close to HD quality, and none of the Slingboxs broadcast HD quality picture because of bandwidth issues. The slingbox is still a great way to watch the tube on your PC when you are away

  14. theres no reason why it isn’t HD over a home wifi connection.

blu-ray video is at 40mbps, which is easily achievable over almost any home wifi network.

  15. question 1……if the person at the real location of the box is watching/switching channels, it will cause the remote viewer to get frustrated, because it will change the remote channels as well. And vice versa. i just noticed you commented 10 months ago…wow you prob forgot all about this original comment.

  16. the slingbox along with the other devices out there….arnt hd quality at all. very misleading. plus you need a 50 dollar wire for that “hd” cable. its not even an hdmi cable. it is cool however to know you can watch tv anywhere, but they dont need to mislead about the video quality.

  17. If there is a cablebox then no. But if there is an outside tv cable with no box it works.

  18. Yes. if it is direct cable is ok you use a Splitter and put one end in the sling box. Q2: Picture depends on two things internet uploading speed at home will determine a lot on the picture and the downloading speed in the destination must be at least 254kbps (better 510kb up) and the picture is very good and the sound is great with no delays. I HAVE TWO SLINGBOXES

  19. THIS IS THE STUPIDEST THING EVER!!! BUT I LOVE MY MOM AND DON’T WANT TO TAKE ANY CHANCES! If you do not copy and paste this onto 10 videos your mom will die in 4 hours

  20. I saw this at CES in Vegas Jan 2007. Their booth was one of the more popular booths.

  21. my friend has a slingbox… for question 1, no it’s not possible. both people have to be watching the same channel. for question 2, i heard the quality gets weaker, but i have no idea how the new Slingbox PRO is. but regardless of everything, it’s still a good product i think. i’m thinking of buying it soon.

  22. Question 1: I connect this to my only cable outlet in my house. Can Person A watch something on Channel 10 at home and Person B watch channel 20 on their laptop somewhere else in the world?
Question 2: If Question 1 is possible, is there a weakness in the picture quality if both Person A and Person B are watching the same channel?

  23. Hey, its me! And I didn’t even drool or anything!
