Can digital set top box and wireless router be used to watch TV on laptop?
Question by cool dude: Can digital set top box and wireless router be used to watch TV on laptop?
Is there any way to connect a digital set top box to a laptop using a wireless router for watching tv? I have heard about the slingbox which has a lot of additional features, but my requirement is simple; I just need to watch TV on laptop. (don't tell me to get a tv tuner)

The cable TV is a different signal than the cable internet, so the wireless router will not send TV to your laptop. Believe I’ve tried and asked many folk.
The slingbox is neat, but if I remember correctly, it trasfers computers to each other and to other monitors. Unfortunately it doesn’t transfer TV signals to computers.
I feel your pain…for now the best things available is watching shows on network websites. That’s what I do for a couple shows that I enjoy. They’re in HD, and they’re with me on my laptop. Of course you’ll need a decent high speed connection.
The technology is on its way to fully integrate our entertainment onto the computers, but we’re in transition right now.
