Can I connect a SLINGBOX to DirecTV so when I switch channels on my computer I wont change channel on the TV?
Question by Rowland Bailey: Can I connect a SLINGBOX to DirecTV so when I switch channels on my computer I wont change channel on the TV?
I Have a Slingbox Pro HD and a DirecTV HD DVR (HR-23)
The DirecTV box has two coax inputs and I can stream to my computer without connecting the coax cables but then when I change the channel on my computer it changes the channel on people watching the TV downstairs. I was told that since my DirecTV DVR BOX has two coax inputs I could use one of them to connect to my slingbox so i can watch different channels on my computer than what is streaming to the TV. How would I set this up?

Who ever told you this was wrong.
All your Slingbox does is stream the Directv receivers OUTPUT over your network so you can watch it on your computer. You Slingbox does not have a receiver or tuner in it, so it is incapable of seeing ANYTHING on it's own. It can ONLY see the output of whatever Directv box you connect it to. (which in your case, someone else is watching downstairs).
