It needs a TCP/IP connection via an ethernet cable. I don't think this is what cell phones use, but I could be wrong.
And you phone bill would be enormous.

Slow connections…?
Question by wilso432: Slow connections...?
My connection has recently slowed down. I am frequently running software called SlingBox which transmits cable TV over the internet. When I first installed it, it ran at about 370 kbps. Suddenly it wend down to about 100 kbps, and I have noticed that my internet is running slower as well. I ran an AVG virus scan and found nothing, I have deleted cookies and temporary internet files, and I have installed the software on another computer, at it also runs at 370 kbps, so I don't think it is my ISP. Is there something that is eating my banwidth which my virus scanner is not picking up, or is there something else I may be missing? Thanks for the help.

if you are running a wired ethernet connection, change the port on the back of the router, you could have a bad port. or try a disable/enable the lan connection on your computger to see if wakes up the card drivers

I want my BBC?
Question by Larry M: I want my BBC?
I want live, realtime BBC channel-surfing from my home in the US. As if I were sitting in London. Cost is not an issue. I'm not interested in watching recorded clips from the BBC website, or watching BBC America. (BBC America is mostly trash TV, and represents a tiny fraction of total BBC programming.)
Here is my idea. (Do you think it will work, and can you advise improvements?)
1. Find a contact in the UK who purchases an additional BBC license, and passes the cost onto me, plus a small profit.
2. Provide the contact with a PC and a Slingbox, with a password so only I can access it.
3. I log on to the Slingbox from the US and watch BBC broadcasting, just as if I were sitting in London.
Do you think this will work? How can I find a contact in the UK willing to help? (They will be making a profit). Thanks...
FYI, BBC is not available via satellite in the US.

the bbc sucks, they are very biased in their reporting and are very anti-semetic, anti-israel, etc.

just search for bbc, or click around and you will see that they lie.

wii vs. location free player?
Question by malarke: wii vs. location free player?
heres the deal, im trying to figure out what I want for my birthaday, and usually I only get to spend around 0.
So, im asking everyone at yahoo what I should get.
First off, I thought the Wii would be a great idea, because I like the concept of a "wiimote" and the games (And Im a big Zelda fan).
Second, the LocationFree Player.
Apparently its like a slingbox, and I love the idea of watching TV on the go.
I currently own a Xbox 1 (haha which I definetly need to upgrade) and a PSP.
So I figure, Wii + Zelda: Twilight Princess
vs.
LocationFree Player + extra -100.
Thanks for your support everyone.
(If you have any sugestions, please tell me.)

Company’s Firewall.?
Question by camj979: Company's Firewall.?
My job's/company's LAN line is firewalled bigtime (can't do video meetings or Slingbox type of things). My question is, if I run a LAN line at work to a wireless router, and want to connect my laptop to the signal that the router is putting out, will that signal have the same firewall as the LAN line. Or will the routers signal just be open (not firewalled)?? I hope this makes sense. Thanks.

Unfortuately, the wireless router will still be connected to the same LAN. This means its going through the same FIREWALL. Big Brother is always watching at work.

Q&A: Tv Tuner Question?
Question by Joe W: Tv Tuner Question?
Is there a tv tuner or slingbox that has the ability to watch comcast digital cable instead of just it's analog channels?
Best answer:
Answer by d3v10u5b0y
you would need an ATSC tuner to get free digital and unfortunately only a cable box is able to pick up all of your subscriber and interactive channels.
