Q&A: HELP: I live in Chicago and want to be able to watch every Denver Broncos game.?

Question by David V: HELP: I live in Chicago and want to be able to watch every Denver Broncos game.?
I just moved to Chicago, from Denver, and want to be able to watch my Denver Broncos games on Sundays. I have Comcast for my cable service and really don't want to switch. Is there any other way I can watch the Broncos games? Is there a way I can watch every game on my computer or is there an app for my iPhone? What about these slingbox devices or any other device that will let me watch my games?
Kyle Orton fan? haha. If he wins games and doesn't lose them like Cutler did then ya. I love how all of the Bears fans think that Cutler is their savior. His winning percentage was atrocious yet he had one of the best O lines, and receiving corps. People will say it's the defense but that's just a cop out. I watched every game that guy played, and yes, he has an insane amount of potential but he's not to bright. Reminds me of Jeff George and will probably end up with a similiar career. Orton didn't lose games by boneheaded mistakes but he's not going to tear up a team's secondary either. I'd rather have a consistent QB that doesn't put my team in a bad situation than a QB who is more concerned with his numbers and doesn't turn the ball over so much.

If your old enough, go to a local bar that has the nfl sunday ticket.

If the NFL had live games online, it wouldn't be free and everybody would know about it.

Q&A: Going to college, need some advice on how to not miss my favorite tv shows.?

Question by Sam24: Going to college, need some advice on how to not miss my favorite tv shows.?
I'm going to college in Jan. and need some advice on how to still watch my favorite shows. I know tv is the last thing I need to be worrying about, but I'm a big sports fan and can't imagine having to miss games. haha My college doesn't carry the subscription service that I have at home, so it isn't an easy fix.

I was considering a slingbox, but I need something that will record the late games. I know I can connect the slingbopx to a dvr or Tivo, but I wan't to see if anyone had any other suggestions.

sling boxes work pretty well, because you can connect to them from your computer to make sure all your shows are recorded. And with microsoft media center it makes it even easier to record things.

Netgear WGR614 to Belkin 7230-4 wireless bridge…possible?

Question by arguijo99: Netgear WGR614 to Belkin 7230-4 wireless bridge...possible?
Is it possible to bridge a Netgear WGR614v5 wireless router to a Belkin 7230-4 v7001 wireless router? Currently, I have the WGR614 configured as a wireless access point for my DSL connection. I bought a Belkin 7230-4 hoping to use it as a bridge between my current setup and my Slingbox. I was going to use DD-WRT to accomplish this, but apparently the hardware version of my Belkin is not currently supported (the version number was not specified on the product page when I bought it). I have set the Belkin up as a bridge using its current firmware, but I cannot get the two routers to communicate with each other. Is this even possible with two different routers? Does the WGR614 even support WDS (I've read conflicting answers)? Might it work if the setup were reversed (i.e. with the Belkin as the main router and the Netgear as the bridge)? I'm leaning toward returning the Belkin and getting two new routers, but I would like to avoid that expense if possible. Any help will be appreciated.

I've only ever gotten a bridge to work between two Belkin 7230, as thier manual says that's the only way they can do it on the help site... although, I could have sworn I did it from my Linksys WRT54, to the Belkin... although after hours of trying, I couldn't get it to accept it as a bridge a second time... good luck

Update: Link to Belkin... I just did it with two 7230-4

http://www.belkin.com/support/kb/kb.asp?a=2814

-----------------------------------------------------------
Just did it with my Linksys, follow the ap setup for your belkin (the second part on the belkin page), and it just works... how odd is that... never thought I'd get it back, thanks, lol

side note: I can only get it to work with WEP or no security... for some reason, I can't line up WPA/WPA2, still trying though... I'm actually using my computer via the bridge right now, testing it out... works pretty good, maybe my issue before was the WPA... hmmm

Question by : I need some tech savvy assistance!?
I'm trying to figure out what to get my boyfriend for Christmas. He's an I.T. guy and tends to stay way ahead of everyone when it comes to electronics. (You know, he has jailbroke iPhone, slingbox, etc.)
I really want to get him something he'll actually use. So far all I can think of is the powermat for his iPhone, bluetooth, etc. (does it work for PS3 controllers?) but I dont know if it even work like it says it does.
Please give me some ideas! If my idea is good then which one do I get?

I am wanting to be able to use my home’s internet while I am away at college, is there any hardware I can buy?

Question by The Protaganist: I am wanting to be able to use my home's internet while I am away at college, is there any hardware I can buy?
I bought the Slingbox Pro HD so I'm able to watch TV while I'm at college, and now I was wondering if there was any hardware that was out on the market that allows you to use your home's ISP (Internet Service Provider) while you are on the road or away from home?

The reason I ask is because I am tired of paying for a slow connection and if I was able to use my internet connection speed that I pay for at home, this would make me a very happy consumer!

Thanks again!

You would need a wireless broadband ISP to achieve that.

Watch cable in room without outlet?

slingbox
by Jeremy Toeman

Question by Amanda S: Watch cable in room without outlet?
If I have a cable box in one room and want to watch it in another room that doesn't have an outlet, is there a better way of doing it other than getting a slingbox and just connecting it to an HTPC? Other than having a new outlet installed, is there a solution which just involves two boxes I can buy...one to connect to the cable box and one to connect to the TV in the other room?

The reason a new outlet is a problem is because this is an older apartment building...you need the landlord's approval for every little thing and in this case, they'd have to drill into two of the walls to run cable etc.
Like is this http://www.x10.com/products4/google/wireless_video_sender_v_orig.html a scam or this would actually work on digital cable? (I have Cablevision)

Best answer:

Answer by O
That actually seems like it might work. It sounds a little too good to be true at first but the only catch I can find so far is that both TV's would have to be on. All it does is send signal from one to the other, so the DVD player or Cable box would have to be on in the first room. You wouldn't be able to watch different things simultaneously using this system. They allow you to change the channel but you would just be "slaving" one TV from another.

Without running a cable through your entire house or drilling through a wall I don't see this happening otherwise. I was in the same situation for 2 years and ended up buying a 100ft. cable (along with pins & cable covers) to try to hide it as it ran across my entire house.

Good Luck!
