I spoke with a guy on the airplane who was streaming Fox News live on his PC. He did not have a slingbox. How do I get access to live TV on my PC?

No, it's a wireless feed or you may get it w/any media player.

There are several software packages online that allows you to basically get several channels directly to your PC.
The is possible since most stations are now streaming there programs over IP as well.
The software packages are not perfect but they can provide you a decent experience with TV on PC.
