Does anyone know about Slingbox? I came across it when I was gift searching and I have some questions.?
Which one do I get? There are a few different kinds and the descriptions of each all sound the same.
Does it work?
Most importantly, If you plug it into your cable box, is that box still usable to someone else who wants to watch tv on it?
Is there anything I should be aware of.
I want this for my dad who travels out of the country frequently. Is it a good gift?

Up front, I’m no expert, but here’s what I know…
If you’re unsure which to get, I’d go entry level. Your Dad can always upgrade later.
According to PC Magazine’s John Dvorak, it works great.
I have heard that folks at home will wonder why the channel is changing on its own, etc. Helps to have a dedicated cable receiver that is not on the main TV, etc.
By most accounts, the SlingBox works great.
