Dream DIY Home Theater Room Design Video
I surprised my husband with this media room featuring 100" screen. Inspired by the style of HGTV designer Candice Olson, I did the work myself on a much smaller DIY budget. Complete shopping list here: www.ratemyfavoritespaces.com Details: Panasonic AE3000U 1080P projector, Denon 1909 AV Receiver, Aperion 7.1 cherry speakers/SW, Stewart Firehawk 100" screen, PS3, directv HD DVR, Apple TV, VUDU, Slingbox HD Pro, Harmony 890 remote, BDI cherry cabinet. Brown wall color is Sherwin Williams' "Toasty" in flat finish. If you need reinforcement with the wife or SO, email me. Tell them American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, HGTV, Food Network ALSO look amazing in 1080p. (With a Harmony remote, she can operate the theater too.) Thanks for watching! Please note: The lights were on for shooting this video, but not when we watch TV or movies.

Hi i’m doing a survey. would you call a 40 inch – 80 inch Screen with HD Image quality a [ Home Theatre ] ?
something like a 20 inch screen isn’t a home theatre. Thanks!!!!

Thanks for your comment! The paint is Sherwin Williams’ Toasty in flat finish. Yes, I did have the granite attached to the cabinet tops, for safety, stability and also for a real built-in look. I even cut the base moldings to fit the toe kick. Doesn’t look DIY even when you see it in person.

I love your media room. What color of paint did you use? Also did you attach the granite top to the cabinets?

Thanks! I am thrilled with it, especially with saving $600 by buying from an authorized dealer on eBay.

nice job

its nice to see someone use a real screen once in a while. Most people skimp out here, and really lose picture quality. Good choice with the stewart screen.

Thanks for your kind comment! You will love the projector. I use eco-mode all the time, except when we have company. I can’t tell the difference.

@DallasfuckingTT
Well I guess I can just tell you here. I use Medialink for my PS3 and I think it’s best to run a Cat5e or Cat6e cable to it. I’m using 5e as it seems to get the job done. Then I set up the custom settings for 5.1 surround and the source resolution.

March 18th, 2010 - 01:45
Yes, 7.1 and glad I did it. Do you stream 1080i or p movies to PS3? I have MBP also but haven’t tried it. And AppleTV only does 960 x 540.
