How to record Xbox 360 gameplay on a Mac using a SlingBox
This video is outdated, as I am no longer using the slingbox Pro. I am now using the Hauppauge HD PVR. It does exactly what I've been looking for, and that's a device that allows me to game in HD while capturing the gameplay in HD. Link the video is below: www.youtube.com

ok thanks a lot bro. Mine should be able to handle it then. Have 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB of DDR3 and in NVIDIA GeForce 9400M with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared so i should be able to handle it pretty well

If you check out the video description on my HD PVR setup tutorial, I have the link to the Hauppauge HD PVR FAQ which lists the minimum hardware requirements.
The MBP that I used in that video was a 1.86Ghz Core 2 duo with 128MB of video RAM and 4GB system RAM.
Hope that helps!

are you on a mac too? and if so, how much power does the HD PVR require from a mac? like i said, my main concern is my 2.4 GHz proc if that will be enough
May 29th, 2009 - 22:21
its awesome. personally I dont really upload HD videos because they are too big and I dont care enough. but it DOES capture amazing quality videos and the passthrough lets you play while recording. 100% lag-free.

May 29th, 2009 - 23:36

Haven’t been in Best Buy lately so I’m not sure. As for the HD PVR, I got mine for $180 on sale at Fry’s Electronics. If you compare the price of the SlingBox that you’d need, the software, it’s going to come very close to the price of the HD PVR. And if want to capture “true” HD, the HD PVR is the way to go.

I know the Hauppauge HD DVR is a lot better, But I really dont have the $250 to come out of pocket, do you know if you can still get this product as Best Buy (I get employee discount) and what is the best software for capturing and recording.
I have 2.4 GHz Proc, 2 GBs DDR3, and Running Snow Leopard. Can you help me out, its a pain finding shit for Mac
Thanks a lot bro

Edit it in whatever you use to edit video, and export it to whatever file format you like to use.

When you record on screenflick for say like 30 mins the file in like a few GB how do i convert it down to youtube size?
May 30th, 2009 - 03:15
It cost me $180. Not $230.
You are aware that you can not get HD out of an svideo cable, Right?
See, you may have spent less than I did, but unlike your dazzle, the HD PVR allows you to record in HD, and play in HD at the same time. Sorry, but game over!
May 30th, 2009 - 03:31
Let’s do this. You are the one who posted on my video telling people to buy a Dazzle. YOU tell me why people should. Since YOU brought it up.
May 30th, 2009 - 03:35
Yes, I have experience with Dazzle capture products. What is your point?
May 30th, 2009 - 04:17
For what? Something to prove how awesome the Hauppauge HD PVR is? LOL.
May 30th, 2009 - 04:41
HD PVR. Dazzle devices SUCK.
May 30th, 2009 - 04:43
The HD PVR wasn’t made just for PC’s. It works for PC, Mac and Linux.
I know you need a dual core and above, which your G5 is not.
If you want to know what the system requirements are, check the Hauppauge site.
