Question by Russel: i want to be able to set tv up on my laptop?
i want to do this for under one hundred dollars but whenerver i go to a circuit city they recomend a slingbox system. is there any tv tuner that will work entirely by itself

http://www.hauppauge.com/ has an ENTIRE line of tv tuners for all kinds of computers, including your laptop. The WinTV-HVR-950 is exactly 99 dollars, so good luck friend.

With a PCMCIA TV Tuner Capture card you can view live TV when connected to an antenna, you can record the shows/movies from the antenna, from a satellite or cable box, from your TV. Once you record you can tehn use the software to edit and burn to DVD. I am linking to a ENDED Ebay Auction just as a reference to what you need.
