new iphone or curve 8900 for att?

Hi,

I am debating if I should get the new iphone or the curve 8900 for att. I can buy 2 8gb cards for the curve so I will have the same memory for music and pictures as I would have on the iphone.

The phone would be used for:
-Making a lot of calls
-A student
-Basic emailing, texting (and bbming if I get the blackberry)
-Browsing basic websites
-Maybe to hookup the mobile slingplayer for my slingbox
-Basic entertainment

I think I will find it easier to type on the blackberry. Do I need a data plan on both phones, if I am always by a wifi connection... can I get one and then just cancel it right away? Is there any disadvantage to getting the non-3g blackberry? Is there a chance the slingplayer would work through edge?

If connected to wifi or just connected to 3g / edge, will I be able to view the same websites, or will I be able to view more with the iphone?

Thanks.
