Oh come on love....you have to read your instructions...slingbox.com has a whole slew of quickstarts to get you up and running....trust me, you need to know this for yourself when dealing with a slingbox and player...You do have slingplayer already loaded don;t you?

its a thing you hook up to your laptop and anywhere you get internet...you can watch tv that you would recieve from your home cable.

I bought this from amazon as a gift and I'm afraid that my recipient didn't like it. The problem he had was that it is not HDTV compatible. He would have prefered a HDTV computer tuner rather than a Slingbox. The thing is that techincally you can program your computer with an HDTV tuner to do the exact thing that Slingbox does for less money than the unit costs. I don't really see any problems with it personally even though programming your own isn't that difficult. It looked pretty nice to me when I bought it.
Because it hasn't been 30 days I'll probably return it back to Amazon and get an HDTV tuner instead.

I recently switched to DirecTV, but was willing to pony up for only one HD-DVR, which I placed in my living room. I’d like to be able to watch all the recordings on that HD-DVR in other rooms. Can anyone recommend solutions? Would the Slingbox PRO (which supports HD) work? Are there any wireless solutions out there that would support HD playback?

I have done this. It is not inexpensive nor easy, if you don't have easy ways to run wires to other rooms. I bought a video signal distribution amplifier at SmartHome.com for about 0. I then ran composite cables (R/G/B) to another room in my house. I bought 50' cables. I also bought 50' stereo cables to connect the audio to a home theater receiver in the second room. The picture and sound are awesome. The signal from the other room is hooked up to Input 2 on the TV monitor in the second room. Some day, there will be an easy, high speed wireless way to do what you are trying to do, but I am afraid it will be at least a couple of years before a simple and affordable solution is available.

I have a Sony LocationFree Player LF-B10 (new, unopened so far). I'm currently worried about the multiple, limited licensing fees with this device. Are there any other software alternative players to view the streamed content for this LF-B10 (maybe open-source software)?
Also, are there any hardware alternatives to the Sony LocationFree Player for Internet / Network TV streaming? I've heard of Slingbox. Anyone have more information?

1. This is really more of a "computer" based question and I think you will get a better response in the Computers & Internet forum.
2. However, you might look at the Sony LF-B20 & LF-PK1 and the Slingbox Pro and AV.
