Will my Slingbox AV work on my HD DVR?

Question by PORSCHEnthusiast: Will my Slingbox AV work on my HD DVR?
I had an SD DVR that I used my Slingbox AV on. I'm upgrading all my Dish Network receivers to HD receivers (with one HD DVR). I'm pretty sure that as long as I have the AV inputs/outputs on the receiver and the Slingbox, then I should be okay. I don't care about an HD picture on my iPhone. I just want the same SD picture I've been getting. I just want to make sure because I bought it just two months ago. I also had to buy ethernet bridges, and the whole thing cost over 0, so I want to make sure it will work.

There's no reason why it shouldn't work. The HD DVR will output a SD picture through the AV same as the current one

I have a Samsung receiver and a SlingBox. Should I use monitor out or VCR out to send the signal 2 the Sling?

Question by beeneeb: I have a Samsung receiver and a SlingBox. Should I use monitor out or VCR out to send the signal 2 the Sling?
I have a Samsung receiver and a SlingBox for my home theater setup. Should I use monitor out or VCR out to send the signal video and audio to my Slingbox? Essentially, my Samsung receiver has 2 HDMI inputs & an HDMI output. I want to use either the monitor or VCR out to send the data to my Slingbox via RCA cables.

Samsung Receiver Model #: HT-AS720 Blu-Ray 5.1 Channel Home Theater System

SlingBox: Sling Media Slingbox SOLO (SB260-100)
Here's my current setup:

The Samsung receiver has 2 HDMI inputs & 1 output. I have a PS3 and a cablebox connected via HDMI to the 2 HDMI inputs on the receiver. Then, I use the HDMI out on the receiver to connect to my TV. Being that I have a Slingbox, I'm trying to figure out whether I should try the VCR out or the Monitor out on my receiver to get the data to my Slingbox because there's no other way to do it.

This question does not make any sense.

The slingbox solo allows you to connect one device. If you use a VCR, then all you can watch is the VHS tape that is in your VCR. You probably want to hook it up to your digital cable or satellite set-top box. The whole purpose of the slingbox is to watch TV, not a VHS tape in VCR.

The only way you can connect multiple devices to a slingbox is with the slingbox pro.

The slingbox solo has an input and output jack. If you need to piggy back, you piggy back it off of the slingbox solor, not the VCR.

Few slingbox questions?

Question by Stina B: Few slingbox questions?
So a little background information first...
I am living in Italy and plan to have a slingbox sent to my parents house in Washington(USA) so they can hook it up and I can watch American TV from here. They have regular cable(no receiver boxes) and broadband internet with a wireless home network. I don't know how fast their connection is, but it's faster than mine.

In my room I have a broadband connection right now my Download Speed: 135 kbps (16.9 KB/sec transfer rate). I have a laptop, a projector, and an xbox 360.

The xbox 360 is connected to my network and what I would like to do is to stream the TV through the xbox because I have my surround sound hooked up to the 360. I can connect my laptop to the projector via s-video but then the sound would become an issue. Is there a way for me to either get the stream from my laptop to my xbox or to get it straight to the xbox without the laptop?

Also, my parents have a faster connection speed than I do, so uploading the video should be fine, but will I still be able to view with a slower connection speed? When I try to stream TV from sites such as hulu I usually have to pause and wait for the video to mostly download or it will stop every 5-10 minutes to buffer, will I have issues similar to this with the slingbox?

Any information on how well this will work would be helpful...or any ideas on how I can setup to view from my projector here. Thank you.

Answer by Onion Johnny
Because the Slingbox requires software to view you cannot run it directly to the Xbox360 but might be possible on a modded Xbox1.

I also doubt it will be possible to stream live content to to the Xbox360 even with Media Center PC unless it is transcoded on-the-fly with third-party software.

Your best solution will be to buy a SlingCatcher which allows you to access any device connected to your Slingbox from another TV in your home and can also connect to your Projector.

Minimum Network Requirements is 256 Kbps Upstream Network Speed

Slingbox setup steps?

by Jeremy Toeman

Question by Stina B: Slingbox setup steps?
Right now I am stationed in Italy...and the TV here isn't that great. So I was going to order a slingbox to my parents' house to hook up to their comcast and have them send me the software to install on my computer. Is there any reason this wouldn't work? I just want to make sure there isn't some weird setup step where my computer has to be connected to the same network as the slingbox or anything like that. Thanks
My parents hate cable boxes, they actually just have basic so it come out of a coax in the wall. So they have to do is split the coax right?

And what's this about region codes? The internet is the same everywhere? It's US TV still not Italian. Plenty of Military and US contractors use the slingbox here anyway so whatever you're talking about probably isn't an issue.

Answer by mazman
it should work just fine, the only problem that might occur is region codes.
