OK. so i will be going to college soon and it would be nice if i could watch my satelite TV which i have at home. I have Direct TV and we have like 4 TVs in the house, one which is mine and will not be used by anyone. So, if i put the slingbox in my room will i be able to watch any channel i want when i am away at college? or will I have to watch the same channels that my parents at home want to watch.
and at home we can watch different channels in each of the rooms we have TVs in. i will be attaching the slingbox in my room where nobody will watch TV in.

Yes. But buyer beware. There are some cheap knock-off out there, mainly at places like radio shack. The Slingbox, if i remember correctly, will hook your receiver up to the internet and allow you to watch it anywhere with a broad band connection. For the part you need to beware of is this, 'How much control will you have of the box from your remote location'. Some knock off products will do all that fun 'internet broadcast' but lack any way for you to change the channel remotely. In other-words, you will have to drive all the way home to change the channel! Slingbox will allow you to channel surf remotely, but make sure you read the fine print on any product you go with.
