Do you need internet or is there a possible way in connecting the slingbox directly?

You are misunderstanding what sling box is used for. It is not to put TV on your computer, for that all you need is a tv tuner card.
Slingbox will allow you to access your cable tv through the internet when you are someplace other then your home.
