  1. Sling Media Slingbox PRO (SB200-100)The product does not setup the way the box represents it.

If your wireless router is in room A and your TV in room B…guess what you need another almost $100 to make the Slingbox Wireless. You can of course run a wired connection thru your walls and ceilings, as an alternative.

In this era a true wirelessbox would have been a great idea. No doubt this company will mend the errors of their ways and redesign. The real cost to change to a system, as it should have been to start, is small.

Greed usually gets in the way! I cannot believe a smart idea like this would have stupid oversight like this product has.

  3. I was ready to buy this until I found out that AT&T and Sling Media will only let me use it with my iPhone on WiFi not 3G. I would buy it today if AT&T would quit punishing iPhone users.

  4. Sling Media Slingbox SOLO (SB260-100)

After reading rave reviews about this product, I decided to buy one so I could access my DVR remotely, especially from my second home abroad. I had little trouble setting it up at home with the help of the excellent technical support Slingbox provided.

However, when I was away from home at a friend’s house, I was unable to connect to my Slingbox. I contacted technical support who took control of my friend’s computer and made adjustments — all to no avail. In fact, the technician at Slingbox could not make a connection from their help site.

When I returned home, I contacted technical support again to see if there were a problem with my connection at home. I was told all was proper when they took control of my computer and checked all the settings. However, once again, Slingbox’s technicians could not connect to my Slingbox. I was told the problem would be elevated to a higher lever.

A few days later I was called by a technician who asked me the same questions that the previous technician had asked and supposedly recorded. This second technician told me that my problem was not unique and that Slingbox had been working on it and that once they had a solution, they would get back to me. There is no end date given. Meanwhile, I have spent money on a Slingbox solo and a Slinglink to the tune of over $250 and have nothing to show for it except being able to connect to my DVR within my own house.

I am very disappointed and annoyed that Slingbox didn’t even offer a hint of when this problem would be resolved, if ever. Slingbox made no offer to reimburse me for the product which would have at least shown that they stood behind what they produce. It is clearly a Slingbox problem and not in any way that Amazon sold something defective or less than as advertised by the manufacturer.

From my experience I would advise you to stay away from this product until Slingbox gets its act together.

  5. I puchased the solo unit this time after getting the A/V unit in the past. Nothing but problems so far. First after one week there is no power. I e-mail tech support they send out new power supply. it takes over a week to get, then after a week that unit fails. Now the unit needs replaced and they are giving two options. Option one to place a new unit on my credit card in a hold status which they will send the new one out with prepaid shipping for return of the old unit. Option two I send bad unit in paying for shipping then the new one is returned to me. I disagree with this policy, I do not feel they are being responsible for they’re product. Keep in mind the time frame for this issue to be resolved. What happened to customer service. This is part of the tech’s E-mail to me. (If there is no power at all we will replace the Slingbox right away) Well I have no power! I am very disappointed!

Bad to Worse sent my unit back in because it is damaged including the power and remote rf cable, I received back the solo unit only no power cord no ir remote cable. I called in to report it they send me only the power cable? I called back in now are sending it but gee how long has it been now? March 26th was the first entry now we are at April 24th wow that’s TWO Months now!!! and it will still be more than a week before the remote cable arrives.
