Slingplayer Mobile for iPhone 3G/iPod Touch First Review!

All other reviews online are done by people who are watching Slingmedia Staff demo them the program at different media events! Update: 05/13/2009 Well it looks like Apple and Slingmedia must have come to some type of agreement recently because this Slingplayer Mobile for the iphone and itouch devices is now available for download on the sling site for the nice and usual price of .99. Unfortunately much to the moans of many, it will onlybe supported on WIFI networks and will not be available for the AT&T 3G networks as Slingmedia had initially stated it would. I know it did work on 3G, because I was a Pre-release tester and the pre-release version had worked on 3g as I stated in the video and I had used it plenty of times on 3G, but it seems that this new public version will only operate on WIFI...tough luck to those who wanted to not be limited by this application on this great device sized screen! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No Release Date for this program as of yet! Can you help me out. My slingbox plays on the computer for like 10 seconds then is stops. So would it be because I have cable tv or of an older VCR or what because I spent a lot of money on that so I want it to work for that price.

yeah…it is “OFFICIALLY” only available to access your Slingbox over wifi….I had a pre-release version which was given to me over a month prior to the public launch of the program so it was enabled for 3g & wifi. But AT&T/Apple has restricted Slingmedia to enable this application to only be used on Wifi as a stipulation of their application gaining approval to their App Store.

This is cool went to best buy yesterday an discoverd the slingbox for the first time had no idea of it now I want it I got Directv an that looks hella cool on the phone my thing is are you only able to watch it over wifi and if yes do you think they will make it to where you cam watch through 3g by x-mas cuz that’s when I’m planning to get this cool vid

of course you need a slingbox on a network connection…the slingbox forwards that video/audio of the web to another device off the web such as a mobile phone or your pc for viewing elsewhere!

well when I got the initial pre-release version it was set to be used on both 3g or wifi…but it looks like apple has demanded slingmedia to make this only compatible for wifi networks, as to not bog down their network according to apple!

during the setup assistant it will ask you for things to configure your slingbox to your multimedia device such as your cable box or DVR and it needs to pinpoint you available services…so if you put your zip it will find local providers such as verizon, direct tv, comcast, etc., and ask you who you have and more questions will follow…but don’t worry no big brother stuff…lol

This application does in fact work for both 3G and WIFI networks as I have stated in the video a few times,lol…but it has not been released to public as of yet!

Oh wow, if you enter the online address that is used for Internet viewing into the lorex iPhone app it connects, so it will work on the local network and regular Internet this is awesome, this Ipad is awesome,

Lorex has an iPhone app that let’s you watch live camera feed, I’m using it on iPad, works great, no setup just log in, probably only works on wifi local network
