I am able to use cam to cam everywhere except my work. The WIFI allows me to use my Laptopfor many things internet sites such as Netlix, HULA, Slingbox, ext.I am able to use yahoo messenger, but the cam never works and I can not view my friends cam either.
Could they block only the cam portion of yahoo?
The started to block sex, drugs, gambling sites, but I don't know if that is related to the cam problem.

Q&A: How to connect multiple TVs to cable and be able to record shows?

Question by might_wake_up: How to connect multiple TVs to cable and be able to record shows?
If I have multiple TVs that I want to connect to my cable, but do not want to run any coax, the best thing I can think of is to connect them via wireless or ethernet cables.

Products like slingbox and Sony's LocationFree have a lot of additional functionality and are a bit costly for my limited use case. I only care about viewing TV while at home and would (ideally) use my home network to stream content between TVs and whatever recording device. Can anyone suggest a setup or a product to use for this? I know slingbox is doable, but it requires 4 items (slingbox, 2 x slinglink, slingcatcher) which adds up.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Thanks!

Wireless will work if you don't have interference from walls, doors and other wireless devices. You won't know until you try.

Using ethernet cables would be the same as running coax unless your house is already wired with ethernet cables. If it is, it should be wired for cable tv also.

Check out the house to see if it is wired for cable. The main connection box might be in the garage.

If it's not, good luck. Cable would be a lot cheaper than slingbox.

Question by Anyone Know?: Have you been able to notice any quality differences between the slingbox classic and sling box pro?
Just bought the classic and playing with my new purchase...and was thinking if I can get better I might go for it.

Not that it is unwatchable at the moment....

Best answer:

Answer by Kathryn
The only difference is if you're watching HD (Slingbox Pro is HD compatible, while Classic is not). Other than that, both Sling the image on the host TV with the same quality. Slingbox Pro does allow you to connect more components, if that's something you want to do. Here's a link to Pro's features.

Question by scott: do i need a slingbox with a slinglink turbo, or is a slinglink turbo able to act like a slingbox?
we want to access our direct tv video on demand and the employees at best buy told us that a sling link turbo would be able to let us do what we want. After opening the sling link turbo package i noticed the directions instruct the user to connect the sling link turbo to a sling box. Do we need to purchase a sling box?

Best answer:

Answer by Onion Johnny
Don't know why they told you this but you have been misinformed

The slinglink turbo only acts as a network link between the slingbox and the router

You need to purchase a slingbox

Things you can do with your computer (that you never thought you’d be able to do)

Things you can do with your computer (that you never thought you'd be able to do)

eThe personal computer has become so much more than just a word processing, email and Internet browsing device. Now, we are using our laptops and desktops for a variety of important functions that would have seemed like science fiction only a few short years ago. It makes sense given the amount of time people spend in front of the screen that technology would evolve in order to let us do more and more while we're sitting there. Consider the following practices and pastimes in which computers now play a role.

New things you can do with your computer

Watch TV

Thanks to websites like Hulu.com (that streams thousands of TV shows and movies right into your browser) and technology such as Slingbox (which gives you the power to watch anything on your TV or DVR on any computer with an Internet connection) you are now able to move your entertainment base off of the couch and out into the world. Think about it: only two short decades ago you had only a handful of channels available, all of which had to be delivered through a large clunky box of wires in your living room.

Make and receive phone calls

Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) technology has made it possible for individuals to make and receive phone calls using this computer. In addition to the convenience of VOIP digital phone service, there is also the added bonus of low price. Consumers and businesses who have switched to VOIP Internet phone service report significantly lower phone bills, especially when factoring in the free calling to other individuals who use the same provider.

Buy a home

Heck, you don't even need a full-on realty website to buy a home on your computer these days. Thousands of people have used sites as simple as Craigslist to locate and research their dream home. And even in this tough economy, there are still hundreds of lending websites that make it ridiculously easy to get financing.

See loved ones around the world

Webcam technology has come a long way in recent years. What was once expensive and offered only the lowest resolutions has now become a more lifelike experience. As a result, everyone from parents on business trips to the young men and women serving overseas in the armed forces are now to able to communicate with words and pictures over the Internet using just a simple web cam strapped to the top of the computer.

Live in a completely different world

While many people have been known to "lose themselves" in their computers, there are now several places where and individual can literally start a new life...a "second life" to be specific. Second Life is a completely immersive experience in which individuals can create entirely new personas and live out virtual lives on line. It's different than other massive online communities in that the goal is simply to...live. Major corporations have invested millions into Second Life in a hope to reach out to those who are spending countless hours there.

HELP: I live in Chicago and want to be able to watch every Denver Broncos game.?

I just moved to Chicago, from Denver, and want to be able to watch my Denver Broncos games on Sundays. I have Comcast for my cable service and really don't want to switch. Is there any other way I can watch the Broncos games? Is there a way I can watch every game on my computer or is there an app for my iPhone? What about these slingbox devices or any other device that will let me watch my games?
Kyle Orton fan? haha. If he wins games and doesn't lose them like Cutler did then ya. I love how all of the Bears fans think that Cutler is their savior. His winning percentage was atrocious yet he had one of the best O lines, and receiving corps. People will say it's the defense but that's just a cop out. I watched every game that guy played, and yes, he has an insane amount of potential but he's not to bright. Reminds me of Jeff George and will probably end up with a similiar career. Orton didn't lose games by boneheaded mistakes but he's not going to tear up a team's secondary either. I'd rather have a consistent QB that doesn't put my team in a bad situation than a QB who is more concerned with his numbers and doesn't turn the ball over so much.
