how do i set up a wireless network in my house with two routers?

Question by geopav: how do i set up a wireless network in my house with two routers?
i got a slingbox for christmas which allows you to view your tivo programs over the internet (http://www.slingmedia.com). it's a cool thing, but the slingbox needs to sit near the tivo and has only an RJ45 jack to connect to the internet. my dsl modem and wireless router are a few rooms away (tivo's downstairs, router's upstairs) and I don't want to run a wire. there must be a way to go wi-fi from the wireless router upstairs to another wireless router downstairs to the slingbox. any tips on how to set something like that up?

Well I don't have either of these toys :( but if I understand your setup correctly - all you need to do is attach a Wi-Fi to Ethernet Bridge to your slingbox. Probably ??

Addendum:
After sending the above answer I googled Slingbox Wi-Fi Ethernet Bridge and found a site you may find helpful - http://www.techlore.com/article/11504/

Is it possible to stream TV from my DVR or Slingbox to another TV in the house?

Question by Don H: Is it possible to stream TV from my DVR or Slingbox to another TV in the house?
I currently have a Slingbox Solo hooked up to my Dish DVR and my Netgear wireless router. I have a bedroom TV that is too far away to run any sort of hard wire (RF, component etc.) but is within range of my 802.11G router. Is there a way to get a signal from my Slingbox or DVR to the remote TV wirelessly? HD would be nice but SD is better than nothing!

Sonos or Slingbox in a totally cabled house.?

Question by OrchardM: Sonos or Slingbox in a totally cabled house.?
Hi I'm trying to decide which networked music system to choose. I have CAT5e cabling throughout my house so will not need to use wireless - I know the sonos seems to be more reliable over wireless but that is not an issue. Initially I will only be using a single zone. I want good quality sound as I will be using a set of pretty nice Quad 21L2 speakers. So my questions are:

Will the Sonos ZP120 be up to the job of driving my speakers well.
Would the ZP90 + My old Marantz PM66SE KI Signature amp be better than ZP120
Would Slingbox + My Amp and a 3rd party DAC (not too expensive) be better than above?
Any other suggestions?

The three options above are all similar in cost, I do not want to spend much more that the cost of a ZP120 in total but future upgrading is a possibility.

Thanks for looking.

Matt

What wireless router should i get for a 6 person college house?

Question by Eric D: What wireless router should i get for a 6 person college house?
Our previous router needed to be reset all the time and eventually it just crapped out. We have 6 people in our house and it is 3 stories. We all have laptops, we play Xbox live, 5 of us have smart phones that connect to the network, and one person uses a Slingbox to watch TV which is also connected to the internet. Specific suggestions would be great. Thanks

go for a cisco or netgear router

also make sure you get a N router, dont get any G,A,B routers

N routers will also get you more range as to how far the signal will reach out to

and last but not least make sure you secure your network! use WPA or WPA2/PSK
DO NOT USE WEP!

Two Slingbox AV in one house?

Question by Derek: Two Slingbox AV in one house?
I was going to setup two different slingbox av's in two different rooms. One is mine and the other is my brothers. Is it possible to connect two slingboxes to one router. They are all in different rooms from each other? How would I have to set it up.

It's not a problem - you will be able to access each one separately. Just follow the instructions and set-up one at a time.
The problem might be with your UPLOAD bandwidth - if both of you will be watching at the same time, you need 350-500kbs EACH foa decent picture. I have an HD SLING box - and upgraded my internet to 1mbs UPLOAD speed.
