Well, I was looking on ebay, and I found so many offers of box, that tells me that I can watch hundreds or thousands of channels in my PC, But my question is, If I but one of them, what else do I need? i read of the software too... But do I need an antenna? what kind of cable does it have?
and they sells TV cards too, how do they work? what do I need?
By the way, I downloaded a software named Slingplayer, but when I start it, it says "No Slingbox found", what kind of box do I need?

Those software that claim hundreds to thousands of channels are scams, avoid them. They just sell links to internet streams that you can get for free, and none of them are the major channels you probably want.
To avoid the scams, you would do it with your own TV source.
You will want some sort of hardware that can present the TV you now can receive to your computer. A Slingbox is one way, a tuner/capture card is another.

The Slingbox people are obviously being a little vague when it comes to their description of the HD Connect device and what it actually does. From the research I was able to conduct online, it seems like the general consensus is:
The HD connect will improve the video quality if you are 'Slinging' over a LAN, but for remote access (which is solely what I plan on using it for), the video is still compressed to 320 x 240. The one advantage that the HD Connect device offers, even for remote users, is that it adds a component input.
My issue is this: The LAN quality doesn't matter to me. Right now, the extra component input doesn't either. Is there anyone out there who has experience with a Slingbox Pro + HD Connect that can tell me if the remote viewing quality is at all affected by the HD Connect cable? Thanks!

The current slingbox pro does not have HD built in. Yes, it is extra money. The new Slingbox Pro HD coming out later this year will have built in HD. Also with the Slingbox Pro, it does not have a built digital tuner. It has an analog tuner. It is no big deal because you will be able to buy a digital tuner, but that will also cost you extra money in 2012. 2012 is when cable will no longer be required to broadcast in analog. If you have satellite, then don't worry about this.

Ok so me and my dad got a slingbox online and we got an HDMI Cable for our Macbook Pro. We want to be able to send the slingbox thing onto the slingplayer on the mac and them plug it into our tv. It hasn't come in the mail yet and I was wondering about the tv channels, if I want to watch The Simpsons on Slingplayer, can my mom still watch Dancing With The Stars? If not, can I watch recorded stuff while someone else watches live tv? If anyone knows the answers, try not to get too technical about it, I'm not amazing at the whole terminology and what not.

Yes the slingbox PRO-HD has a built in tuner. You will be able to watch whatever you want while your mom is watching TV without any interruptions.

nope just tv to computer. it works for being able to watch your tv while you are gone thru the internet. you still have to have cable or something. it allows you to view what you would if you had a tv. great for military if you go someplace and have internet but are away from home. or jobs that send you on tdy and the hotel you stay at only has aselect amount of channels or so you ca watch you cable and not some other places cable. being that a lot of times the channels are different.
why would you need to steam the other way. use your computer for that. you can hook up a computer to a tv monitor and watch that way. again though the slingbox is not for that purpose. it is so you can watch your own cable that you are paying for at home were ever you are at as long as you have a computer and internet

That wasn't the way Slingbox was designed...you have to change your parent's TV channels to get them on your laptop....
Of course you could buy another Cable or Satellite box and dedicate it to your Slingbox....You don't even need a TV set on that box, just your laptop.
