Need Help getting out of market NFL game?
Question by M: Need Help getting out of market NFL game?
Ok I'm moving to Houston but I want to make sure I can watch every Saints game. I don't want to pay the 0 every year to get NFL Sunday Ticket. Is there another way? Any website that streams this for free/cheap? Any Help is appreciated. I thought about a Slingbox at my parents house but I heard it takes alot of computing power and my parent's computer sucks.
I've checked they do broadcast some of the games but not all of them. I need to see ALL of them.

Here's what I do....
If my game is not on tv (Raider fan living in Green Bay), I go to the Buffalo Wild Wings or another sports bar that has the ticket. I ask for my game and there it is.
Most of the time, I get away with spending less than and still have a great time.

NEED LAPTOP ADVICE! Can anybody help me before I make a huge purchase?
Question by CharlieAS: NEED LAPTOP ADVICE! Can anybody help me before I make a huge purchase?
I'm about to buy a laptop but I'm not sure 'how much' laptop I need and I'm paranoid about blowing over 00 on computer that won't fit all my needs. I want a laptop that's not going to be absolutely out-of-date a year from now (for example, Windows 7 is coming out soon). I think I've narrowed my choices down to the HP HDX 16t (or 18t) Premium Series or the Sony VAIO AW Series.
I want a laptop with one of the newest (and fastest) processors, a LOT of RAM and hard drive size, an amazing graphics card, Blu-ray drive, TV tuner, HDMI, fingerprint reader (not 100% necessary), and DEFINITELY a decent # of ports (eSata, Firewire, USB)... some generous expansion ports would be ideal as well.
Basically, I want a laptop that will be my business and entertainment hub, one that is NOT going to slow down when I open up a bunch of programs, Internet tabs, edit movies, burn cd's/dvd's or store thousands of mp3s and pictures. I NEED it to be upgradeable so I'm not complaining a year or two from now that the damn laptop is obsolete. I'm also planning on hooking it up to my HDTV and/or using a Slingbox to control my TV needs from my laptop via wireless.
Alright, can ANYBODY provide some guidance before I take the plunge? Are there other laptops out there that offer these same functions that I'm not seeing, is there a computer coming out in the next few weeks or months that will blow all the current ones away, or am I just asking too much out of laptop?
*P.S. Does anybody know if you can use a wireless Internet service card on your laptop at home? and if so, will it still work if there is already Internet service (with a router) in the home? I only ask because the person in question DOES NOT feel like upgrading our Internet service to something faster, and I don't want to buy a 00 laptop and have it connected to an ISP which moves as slow as a turtle.

Ever thought of Apple? Most reliable laptop I have ever had. Their entry level ones are about 00 but if you check the specs they are higher than many computers on the market. You will not get things like Blu Ray, HDMI, and TV tuners for under a 1000.

If I want to watch TV channels in my desktop PC, Do I just need a Box? or Do I need an antenna too?
Question by Fist_on_fire: If I want to watch TV channels in my desktop PC, Do I just need a Box? or Do I need an antenna too?
Well, I was looking on ebay, and I found so many offers of box, that tells me that I can watch hundreds or thousands of channels in my PC, But my question is, If I but one of them, what else do I need? i read of the software too... But do I need an antenna? what kind of cable does it have?
and they sells TV cards too, how do they work? what do I need?
By the way, I downloaded a software named Slingplayer, but when I start it, it says "No Slingbox found", what kind of box do I need?
Thanks for reading and I Hope you could help me!!!

Those software that claim hundreds to thousands of channels are scams, avoid them. They just sell links to internet streams that you can get for free, and none of them are the major channels you probably want.
To avoid the scams, you would do it with your own TV source.
You will want some sort of hardware that can present the TV you now can receive to your computer. A Slingbox is one way, a tuner/capture card is another.

Need some advice: 5.1 system and external digital tuner?
Question by Christopher R: Need some advice: 5.1 system and external digital tuner?
Ok so I'm a freshman in college right now, and sharing a room with a couple people. Due to the arrangement I have not been able to enjoy watching movies/tv/ gaming with anything but headphones. I just went through the housing lottery and got myself a 200 square foot single for next year.
I know its not a ton of space, but I wanted to know if its worth it for me to buy a cheap 5.1 system from someone like logitech or creative in order to get a better listening experience. My school has "quiet hours" from 1am to 7am, but other than that its anything goes, so no problems with neighbors. I just want to make sure its even worth it with that small of a space.
Second question is:
I recently bought a 22 inch 1080p monitor that has hdmi/vga/dvi ect ect, the price was good and the quality is outstanding even compared to the much larger and more expensive set my family has at home.
Main problem is that it lacks a tv tuner. My roommate had a big tv this year so it wasnt an issue, but I need to figure something out by the end of the summer. Main thing it needs is the capability to accept coax connections and is digital so it can still be usuable down the road and display the hd channels at my school. (at home I have a regular cable box)
My ideas/options thus far:
1) Get a slingbox pro
pros: Can watch tv on my laptop all over campus as well as on my phone.
cons: Price....its well over 200$ and although I work full time during breaks/summer, I do have a phone bill/ insurance/ ect that I need money for during school
2) Buy an external tuner/usb tuner
Pro: I'm assuming they are cheaper...but
cons: I cant find a decent one anywhere. I need something that isn't tied through my computer, just a direct tuner to my monitor.
So does anyone have any suggestions for an external tuner thats somewhat cheap (under 100ish) ?
Or am I just gonna have to work overtime and get the slingbox pro hd?

What kind of inputs does your monitor have? Make sure you can use whatever solution you select with your monitor.
You can use one of those converter boxes to get SD reception. They're around and if you have the government coupon they're the cheapest option. If you want HD, you'll need to get an HD ATSC tuner. They currently run around 0 or so, but you could check eBay for a cheaper used one.
Should have bought a TV with a PC input.
An alternative to Slingbox is Hava Platinum or Hava Titanium. I use the Platinum and it works pretty well over the LAN. Haven't tried it over the Internet yet. I've seen the Hava stuff on sale at Amazon and Buy.Com. I think I paid around for mine.
Why don't you want to use your PC with a USB tuner? The Pinnacle USB adapters work well and they can be bought inexpensively. The only gotcha is that you need a fast processor to get ATSC signals. Intel Core Duo with 2.0Ghz processor works fine.
BTW, I think if you want to use the Slingbox over the Internet, you have to have it connected to your PC, at least to set it up with the Slingbox servers.

Do I need a TV License if I use a Slingbox in the United States, but stream the video to my computer in the UK
Question by dr j: Do I need a TV License if I use a Slingbox in the United States, but stream the video to my computer in the UK
I am living in the United Kingdom for the next year, and am not planning on buying a TV, but wanted to use a Slingbox installed at my house in the United States to watch tv here on my computer.
The television would be from the US, not the UK, so I am wondering whether or not I would need a TV License or not.
Thank you.
The licensing website says if the video is streamed at the same time its played live on a television, then you need a license. The only difference is, this stream is from the United States, so does anyone know if I would need one?
