ok so i was thinking of buying a slingbox. but i have one main question. do u need a wifi connection to use it. for example if im in my car in the and want to watch tv is that possible if i have no internet connection. slingcommunity.com isnt giving me any help. all the sling ads say u can get tv any where in the world so it sounds like u dont need internet connection but i doubt that is true.

You have to have internet connection. It does not have to be wifi. It can be regular old wired internet. If you're in a moving car you souldn't be watching TV anyway. If you're in a car that's not moving, you'll need a notebook computer and a mobile broadband device like Verizon sells. Technically you ***could*** get TV anywhere in the world with a slingbox, but there are several locations you would need satelite-based internet and a generator...

Seriously, dude, get a slingbox. They are awesome.

I was wondering if you have a slingbox pro and slingplayer on a laptop will you get the feature of timeshifting the tv program.(pause and rewind)

From what I understand the slingplayer can only do what your tv and a/v equipment can do. If it's hooked up to a Tivo then yes, you will be good to go. If not, no you won't be able to timeshift.

Just get a DVR from the cable company and hook that up to the sling. Then you get OnDemand, and DVR funtionality. Not as good as Tivo, but who cares you can be in Siberia and get your shows.

The channels on your Slingbox depends on your cable service. Slingbox is used to stream whatever channels you can view on your TV at home on your internet computer from elsewhere.

If you can watch Disney Channel at home, then you can view it on any internet computer anywhere in the world.

Sling box is the coolest consumer technology out there. It's so simple.

Basically, the slingbox just gets put in the middle of that line. The same way you would hook up a vcr to your tv with a cable box.

The slingbox takes the video/audio signal you provide it (meant for tv signal but it will work with anything...video camera, security camera, nanny camera, just audio....) and streams it onto the internet so you can watch YOUR cable signal on a mobile device anywhere that you have an internet connection.

The instructions that come with are very easy to follow. Once it's connected, you load the software onto your laptop (cd comes with the slingbox) or download it onto your mobile phone or whatever device you are planning to use the slingbox with. You run the software and it takes you through some very easy to follow steps. The set up is so easy it will amaze you.

Once all set up...you will be able to control your cable box, change channels, and watch your cable tv anywhere you go. If your cable box is a DVR, you'll even be able to record live tv and play back stuff you have saved. The software downloads a "virtual" remote to match the one your cable company uses. Very cool.

There are no monthly fees....nothing to do once you set it up. Just leave it plugged in and as long as you can access the internet on a mobile phone, laptop, etc....it will work. Only one viewer can access the slingbox at a time.

if you have the slingbox pro, can you watch your satellite programing on your pc while someone else is watching another channel on the tv

only if the other channel on the tv is not a satellite channel, your slingbox will only watch whatever channel is on the satellite reciever, if someone changes the channel at the home satellite reciever manually, then the channel will also change for remote viewing.
