My slingplayer app is not functioning right, telling me to check my Internet connection. Now when u call up for support, they tell me I have to pay 30 bucks to get the technical issue resolved. Hell no!!! Anybody familiar with this issue??? Any help would be great.

I have a singbox and have to get a laptop to install the software.....I am going to use this laptop and connect it to my hd tv.. my question is how good of a laptop do i need? will a cheap one give the same results as a good one?....thanks a ton!

it really not the lap-top you need to worry about its just has to be able to run windows xp -if it runs windows xp or above good that is all you need but the thing that really matters is your upload and dl speeds on your internet for regular sd media you just need a min of 786 dl speeds but a 3mb is better if you are using slingbox pro HD then a 5-7mb dl speeds is what you need for faster paced action movies

I know a person that has this...it is probably the single greatest thing ever invented.
I think it costs 0 for the basic model.
Anyway, someone you know who has satellite TV, hooks up it up on their end. They have to have broadband internet and WHATEVER channel they are tuned into is sent over the net.
The Slingbox, which is on your end receives the signal.
It is hooked up to your computer and is at FULL TV resolution.
For instance, if your family, friends (or whoever else you have it hooked up with) is watching the Sabres playoff games (because everyone in Buffalo is a devout, die-hard Sabres fan, far surpassing Philly fans) than you are watching THE SAME SABRES GAME!!!! Amazing!!!
Furthermore, if you have one of those Blackberry handhelds, than you can watch the games on that as well...holy crap...this thing is amazing.
No subscription costs...other than the initial investment (and maybe you throw your folks bucks a month since you're leaching off THEIR satellite TV subscription)
Oh, and you can change the channel remotely (not suggested if the people on the other end are intently watching something at the same time) If they have NHL Center Ice...than YOU have NHL Center Ice.
The only reason this thing is legal, is because you aren't watching TWO channels simultaneously.

The slingbox does not upgrade your service. If you were getting basic service before, you will continue to get basic service.
The slingbox allows you to watch tv on another PC which does not have a TV tuner as long as both PC's are hooked up to the internet. The other PC can be on the other side of the earth.

It is the oposite of an extender. It allows you to stream video from your satellite or cable feed to your laptop via the internet or your home network.

You connect it to your TV, Satellite, Cable, etc. And it will stream your TV over the internet. So when you're away, you can watch your TV channels anywhere in the world as long as you have broadband internet connection.

Well, you need Windows. And the G1 doesn't use it. No, it won't work.

Oh come on love....you have to read your instructions...slingbox.com has a whole slew of quickstarts to get you up and running....trust me, you need to know this for yourself when dealing with a slingbox and player...You do have slingplayer already loaded don;t you?
