I have a relative that has Dish Network and he has a channel that I would like to watch every Saturday...(the channel is Worldsport-it is a Voom HD channel only offered through Dish Network).....If I get the Slingbox Media(the 0 dollar)....can I watch the channel at my house on my HD television....I know i need the 0 dollar one for HD but will I be able to watch his HD channel on my TV. Its ok if the image is not HD....I just want to be able to watch the channel without having to get Dish Network plus the Brighthouse Cable that I already have(I'm in a contract with them for a year and I dont want to pay for two TV companies).

Slingbox TV is supposedly "coming soon".
You could connect your computer to your HDTV, if you have the right connectors, I currently use my 42" 1080P HDTV for my computer monitor and HDTV, PS3 in the living room. Computer is in the cabinet below.
I don't think the slingbox will currently work without something between it and the TV.

Cable TV goes into box-
box then allows you with a password to access it from your pc over the internet-
The quality is very dependent on how good your home and remote internet connections are. Not perfect usually but pretty good. I have business class cable and from a T1 at my office the quality is mostly perfect, but thats a rare setup.
Hard to say on DSL and a wireless connect card, but I doubt you would be happy. Best bet is to go to speedtest.net and make sure you are over at least 2 up 2 down from both the laptop and your DSL to the nearest server farm-

The slingbox is a really neat product. You hook it up to your cable box or satellite receiver and your home internet network. You then download a program on your computer and are able to watch your home television on your computer. If you have a dvr then you are able to use the DVR on your computer. I travel all the time and I am able to watch my local news no matter where I am. I can also watch my recorded programs while traveling.

It's designed to let you watch stuff from your home TV on a computer, is all. So if your Tivo is set to record all your favorite shows but you're out of town, you could stream whatever is recorded at home to your laptop (in an internet cafe, or hotel, or friend's house)- anywhere you have a broadband internet connection. I think it can even send TV shows to cellphones now.
The device is physically connected to your Tivo or TV tuner and plugged into your network at home.

This is somewhat complex but I think it would work so here it goes. Ok I dont have cable but my parents do and only have 1 tv so they have a few extra boxes since they came with their cable for free. I have an extra computer with an s video port on it. So could I plug in a sling box to one of their extra boxes put it on their internet then send it to my house and then to my extra computer which would be pluged into my tv with the s video port. Would that work and let me watch their cable?

There is no monthly charge. But you need to make sure your upload speed is decent. I have 512kbs upload - it works OK.
