Slingbox Solo question?

Question by baseballman1243: Slingbox Solo question?
Can you watch on the same t.v./set top box currently being streamed on by another computer that is somewhere else at the same time?

Best answer:

Answer by Joshua g
Only one person/computer can watch the slingbox. I have a laptop that i watch the thing on sometimes. I also have a Nokia n75 that has the slingmobile software on it.
I tried to watch the tv on the phone when the computer had it on and it wouldn't work.

SlingBox Owners Please answer?

Question by Shivan R: SlingBox Owners Please answer?
I live in Trinidad ( W.I ) and i want to purchase a sling box,but i have a couple of questions:
1) Do i know i need a router ,is the config for it hard.

2) If you change the channel on ur computer do you also change the channel on the TV as well ( Cause that would suck )

Best answer:

Answer by avomatic
1)You will need a router, configuration is not hard at all, you only connect the cat 5 cable and the sling box will detect the network.

2)the sling box changes the channel on the video source using a infrared transmiter, basically the same as if someone was changing the channels live at home. if someone was watching the tv at the same time, the tv channel would change for them as well, the best way to avoid this is to use a dedicated video source for the sling box, like its own cable box, so it wont incovenience viewers at home.

Is it possible to stream TV from my DVR or Slingbox to another TV in the house?

Question by Don H: Is it possible to stream TV from my DVR or Slingbox to another TV in the house?
I currently have a Slingbox Solo hooked up to my Dish DVR and my Netgear wireless router. I have a bedroom TV that is too far away to run any sort of hard wire (RF, component etc.) but is within range of my 802.11G router. Is there a way to get a signal from my Slingbox or DVR to the remote TV wirelessly? HD would be nice but SD is better than nothing!

Could I get TV service through slingbox through my parent’s satellite service and connect my computer to my tv?

Question by V for Vendetta: Could I get TV service through slingbox through my parent's satellite service and connect my computer to my tv?
My parents have an extra satellite receiver they don't use at their house and since it is a lot cheaper to just pay the extra for the second receiver than to have another account of my own. Then use a Slingbox to transmit the programming to the Internet. Access the Internet from my apartment in a different city, then get one of those devices that connect your computer to your TV. There you go, I would have TV for much less than the regular monthly fee. Would this work??

Best answer:

Answer by Geoff S
Yes it would. Although personally, I think it would be easier to just buy another dish and LNB and take that receiver over to your house and hook it up there. They say you have to have the phone line connected bla bla bla but experience says you can do without it. Just can't order any payperview movies unless you call it in for an additional charge. They'll never know the box isn't in the same house.

Keep in mind too if you go the slingbox route, think of how much bandwidth it'll take up to send a decent picture and sound. 300 or 400kbps perhaps? That's a good chunk of most people's upload allocations.

This is a very clever phone, with an excellent 8.1 megapixel camera and a media sharing capability that makes it the world's first Slingfone.

Q&A: how does slingbox work??

by Jeremy Toeman

Question by Dale: how does slingbox work??

Best answer:

Answer by hari
Slingbox connects the TV source (via coaxial cable, S-video or composite cabling) to an Ethernet router (wireless and power-line bridges also supported). PVRs and cable boxes can be controlled through an additional infrared cable that lets users switch channels on the box when they are remote. A software client on a user's PC (only Windows XP is supported at the moment) connects to the Slingbox and provides the user interface for viewing the "TV" and changing channels.

The device is currently only designed for use with the NTSC television system used in North America, although a version compatible with the PAL and SECAM systems used elsewhere is also being tested, and will be released during 2006.

Are there any DVR programs for Slingbox?

by nino63004

Question by Where's Wally: Are there any DVR programs for Slingbox?

Best answer:

Answer by Joshua g
Nope, Slingbox is just a device that will place your a/v feed onto the internet so you can watch it. You can use a DVR with the slingbox.

For example, I have a direct tv DVR that you can control through the slingbox from my phone or computer. Its pretty cool having the t.v. on my phone.
