Can you watch on the same t.v./set top box currently being streamed on by another computer that is somewhere else at the same time?

Only one person/computer can watch the slingbox. I have a laptop that i watch the thing on sometimes. I also have a Nokia n75 that has the slingmobile software on it.
I tried to watch the tv on the phone when the computer had it on and it wouldn't work.

I want to buy a Slingbox. I will hook up the Slingbox to my HD DVR and stream it over the internet to watch on my laptop at college. I have a very fast internet connection at my home, and I assume the internet connection at college will be decent. Is the video quality much better on the Pro-HD model than the Solo? I can't decide if it is worth the extra money for the Pro-HD model because I haven't seen a side-by-side comparison for myself.
I appreciate any response if you know from personal experience. I will read all responses.

The Pro is much better, but not a great deal, it is a question of finance really.

Has anybody done this? My question assumes sufficient bandwidth on both ends and a Netflix subscription. I've seen many posts from people who have used it with various DVRs but nobody who has done this.
Also, must the user leave his or her computer at home for Slingbox to work?

in theory it should work.and no you dont need any viewing device at home by your statement i guess you talking about a lap-top leaving it at home so no you just need the slingbox connected to the internet the output on the slingbox is a pass-thru port since you dont control the channels with it for your tv and your slingbox needs to be after your tivo so you can control the tivo with the IR leads- i dont have a tivo i have a computer based pvr and i dont have a android phone

4. I use slingbox classic,
1. Everything I needed came with the Slingbox, it plugs into the cable out and into the router.,
2. Who ever controls the cable box controls what everyone watches, if you can swing it get a second cable box solely for the slingbox.
3. The Laptop only plays the Sling it wont record that I know of. You can get a DVR and record that which would allow you to play it back off the DVR box.

It most likely means you have yet to set the device up. Make sure you unplug and plug the Slingbox back in as it will not detect the network connection with the powerline. Then run through the setup on the PC that is connected to the same network as your Slingbox.

Yes, so long as they do not access the STB connected to the Sling Box.
