Question by ©tori♫♪♫♪®™: NETGEAR HD/Gaming 5 GHz Wireless-N Networking Kit - Do you know anything about setting it up and using it?
HD/Gaming 5 GHz Wireless-N Networking Kit is intended for high-performance network gaming and simultaneous streaming of multiple HD videos. It provides more wireless channels, less interference and better connections using 5 GHz Wireless-N band.Works with Xbox, PlayStation, Wii, TiVo HD, Slingbox, digital set-top boxes, NETGEAR's Digital Entertainer HD, Apple TV, network attached storage (NAS), and more.
I have the box sitting here, and am not sure what to do with the product.
It is used to put your games like XBox and Wii among others onto the www for sharing and playing games against other people -- even half way around the world.

Q&A: Using tivo as a slingcatcher?
Question by Adam: Using tivo as a slingcatcher?
Hi I live overseas and have been offered both a slingbox pro and a tivo seiries 2 I was just wondering if I could use the actual tivo as a sling catcher. Like to watch my american cable overseas.
Best answer:
Answer by classicsat
Simply no.
The Series 2 has only MPEG2 video codecs, and can only download MPEG2 from the internet and videos servers in your house (they need to serve files in a specific way TiVo needs).
While the Series 3/HD units can stream MPEG4, they currently lack software to "catch" Sling.
What you would use the Series 2 for is to record the TV you receive in America (albeit in SD), so you can watch it at your convenience over Slingbox, on your computer or with a proper Sling Catcher.

No. DirecTV2PC requires the PC be on your home Network to work.
You need a Slingbox to watch TV outside of your home network.

See the "Using the Slingbox" video
live.pirillo.com/ - Watching live television over your smart phone isn't as difficult as you might imagine: all you need is an Internet connection and the Slingbox. The Slingbox is a piece of hardware that takes you cable or satellite signal and retransmits it over the Internet, so anything that can access the Internet can also access the Slingbox. That means that your laptop, desktop, and smart phone can display what's on TV.The Slingbox optimizes the stream for your connection, so your smart phone will receive a lower resolution video than your laptop or desktop will. Their software works for OS X, Windows, and even Linux (although the Linux port is a community project and not an official Slingbox release). The bottom line: this piece of equipment is damn cool. Q&A: Slingbox using a wireless repeater?
Question by billives: Slingbox using a wireless repeater?
I'm going overseas to set up my first Slingbox hopefully successfully. I plan to set up at my parents house, using my sister's wireless LAN signal. She lives next door, and has very limited space, and I don't want to bug her too much. She already gave me wireless network password, so no problem.
Questions: is it possible to set up Slinbox with wireless repeater to sling regular antenna signal???
Thanks.

Hi, no. You do not want to use a repeater, you want to purchase a wireless bridge to connect to the slingbox using its ethernet connection and bridge that to your sisters wireless signal. Some repeaters support bridging mode so check the specs on yours......

Q&A: Using the slingbox at college?
Question by dave r: Using the slingbox at college?
My college charges a lot for tv. Has anyone else whose college charges them for basic cable tried using the slingbox to stream cable from home rather than paying for it? I feel like there must be a large downside to it since I haven't heard of anyone doing it even though it sounds like an elegant solution

While I have not done this myself, I do know people who have, and it has worked well. Especially if you have a t.v. at home that people will not be using often, like in your old bedroom or something.
