I'm trying to make my Slingbox work wireless, but it only has a place for plugging in the connection chord and no place for a USB.

Basically, I want to use Firefox on my PS3 (Slingbox: which cannot be accessed through the PS3 browser). This is more difficult now that you cannot partition the PS3 hard drive. This is a short term fix, as I will be ordering a new computer soon, however it could still be useful for others. Any ideas?

Although, if all they did was take partitioning off then maybe.

I have a cable TV and broadband subscription that goes into my house. I also have a detached studio on my property - it is not wired for cable TV, but it does get my Wi-Fi signal. Is it possible to somehow "stream" cable TV into the studio through Wi-Fi... perhaps through Slingbox or using a Wi-Fi TV?

I am not sure if it's possible for you to stream live cable, however if you do get wifi, you can watch programs online. Works pretty much the same and Hulu has alot of great programming.

I have a Sony MiniDV camcorder with Firewire or USB output. I'd like to stream this video live using a live streaming website such as livestream.com without having to hook up the camera to a computer. In other words, is there an appliance like the Slingbox that can take video from the camcorder, connect to the internet and directly stream it out or stream it through one of the live streaming sites?

Since you did not tell us which Sony camcorder, we don't know if it supports USB streaming. Typically, the USB port is used only for trnasferring stills off a memory card.
I don't think the SlingBox supports firewire.
The other option that should work is to connect the camcorder's composite AV cable to one of the SlingBox's composite video (and audio) input...
Since we don't know what you will be using the camcorder's streamed video for, you need to know that video camcorders typically have an auto-power down mode that is designed to protect the camcorder's electronics... Many times, the timer on the automatic power down is not settable to "Never".

You have to look for some IPTV based service that sells Japanese programs via IPTV. Of course, what you may get will be limited somewhat, for some programming might be copyright limited to Japan.

The Slingbox is a hardware. It does not record television shows. Its sole purpose is to allow you to access your television shows. There are a few different models of the Slingbox. Not all connect to your TiVo. .
You access the Slingbox via the Internet. It uses its own TV tuner or the tuner in your cable or satellite box. You can watch live programming. Or, some models allow you to watch programming you’ve recorded to a DVR.

That wasn't the way Slingbox was designed...you have to change your parent's TV channels to get them on your laptop....
Of course you could buy another Cable or Satellite box and dedicate it to your Slingbox....You don't even need a TV set on that box, just your laptop.
