I am able to use cam to cam everywhere except my work. The WIFI allows me to use my Laptopfor many things internet sites such as Netlix, HULA, Slingbox, ext.I am able to use yahoo messenger, but the cam never works and I can not view my friends cam either.
Could they block only the cam portion of yahoo?
The started to block sex, drugs, gambling sites, but I don't know if that is related to the cam problem.

they could be blocking it too. needless to say, you are at work and you are there to work and not to view webcams during at working hours!

ok so i was thinking of buying a slingbox. but i have one main question. do u need a wifi connection to use it. for example if im in my car in the and want to watch tv is that possible if i have no internet connection. slingcommunity.com isnt giving me any help. all the sling ads say u can get tv any where in the world so it sounds like u dont need internet connection but i doubt that is true.

You have to have internet connection. It does not have to be wifi. It can be regular old wired internet. If you're in a moving car you souldn't be watching TV anyway. If you're in a car that's not moving, you'll need a notebook computer and a mobile broadband device like Verizon sells. Technically you ***could*** get TV anywhere in the world with a slingbox, but there are several locations you would need satelite-based internet and a generator...
Seriously, dude, get a slingbox. They are awesome.

my modem will not configure with my linksys wireless router, i have tried everything i can to make it work but to no avail,could it be that my modem is too old ? i have an old ntl modem that is about 7 yeard old, all this is such a headache all for a slingbox connection !!!!!

You may have to hook the modem directly to your computer and change it to bridge mode, then connect your router back up.

Ok I just got a slingbox and tried it at work, but it isnt working because of a firewall. How can I get around this? I have a domain name and am trying to point my slingbox to that to connect to it, but I cant figure out how. I dont know much about DNS so I cant get that to setup and wouldnt know what to do even if it did. Do I go to my website or hell I dont know what to do any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

well you could try to staticly route your slingbox to the public ip on the public side of your networ.

I've seen an HP 42" LCD 1080p television for sale in the US - model SL4278N. What makes this different is it's ethernet/ wireless 802.11 n capability which would fit nicely into my wireless network connecting to my slingbox pro that pipes out HD pictures.
Does anyone know if this works in the UK (ie accepts PAL signals / UK power) and where I can find one?

This is basically an NTSC TV, so it will not work in the UK.

I have a tv tuner in my computer but its far from the tv and i dont want to slow down my internet (its already slow enough) by getting something like slingbox to watch tv on my pc, and with the coupons the Converter is the cheapest way to go instead of one those 0 TV sticks that go into the usb slots, which also only get local channels
My TV Tuner is Currently Useless

the quick answer is no... and the converter boxes convert OTA HD signals into standard def so that your tv can display the picture.

My Slingbox is installed correctly and working fine at home. However, I haven't used it in quite some time. I contacted Slingbox and asked them how to connect, and they told me I had to pay .95 for them to tell me. Extortion? Sounds like it to me. Remember that if you are considering buying one. In the mean time if someone could refresh my memory on how to connect from a remote PC, I would be most grateful. I have my "long" ID number required, but I cannot find what to do with it.

Slingbox connects the TV source (via coaxial cable, S-video or composite cabling) to an Ethernet router (wireless and power-line bridges also supported). PVRs and cable boxes can be controlled through an additional infrared cable that lets users switch channels on the box when they are remote. A software client on a user's PC (only Windows XP is supported at the moment) connects to the Slingbox and provides the user interface for viewing the "TV" and changing channels.
The device is currently only designed for use with the NTSC television system used in North America, although a version compatible with the PAL and SECAM systems used elsewhere is also being tested, and will be released during 2006.
