Im wanting to be able to show my xbox 360 on my ipod touch. I saw the slingbox but i want to try to avoid the 0 cost. I thought about plugging my xbox into my computer via a composite connection through a pci card but thn. Im not sure what to do after that. I know it sounds wieRd playing xbox on a 3x6 screen but if you were in my position you would understand. I have almost every means of internet, router config, computer, software, and network as all my equipment is centrally located. Also if possible i Would like o do the same thing with my att uverse iptv stb thanks in advance! 
Well im not wanting to stream it from the xbox directly. What im wanting to do is use my computer as a slingbox.

Unfortunately it's not possible. The Xbox 360 won't let you stream anything to any device at all.
You can stream what you see on your PC to your iPod touch but that requires installing additional software which an Xbox 360 isn't capable of (well it's OS doesn't allow you to). So the only way maybe through the Slingbox which you plug in the cables to it and stream.

I've done some research and should I get the
Hava Platinum HD (I dont need Wifi)
HD PVR model 1212
A Slingbox (havent done a reseach on this, only heard about it)
(there was something else that started with an H, but I cant find it)
or suggest your own setup.
Ideally, I would want to spend under 0, but suggest whatever would work (I found the HAVA Platinum HD for and was leaning towards that, but I was wondering that since the video has to be fed into that and then out to my TV, would there be noticeable lag?)
Apparently HAVA doesnt record in full HD, just 480i or something similar, any suggestions for HD recording?
The Viera is a TV, I already have an HDTV

I've been doing some research on if it's possible to do all these things on a computer screen. I have shaw high speed cable internet, and I don't mind switching a cable here and there.
I think the answer is an external tv tuner, however I don't know if my xbox 360 will connect to it, and play well enough. Also, i don't know if a slingbox is better. I have 5.1 surround sound speakers and i want to be able to use those while playing xbox 360.
Hopefully this makes sense, and someone can list the things i need, and if it's at all possible.

Or are their better ways?
Does any one know of a external USB or Firewire that can do the same thing beecause I don't need to watch TV on a Macbook Pro, heck I don't watch TV on a televison anyways!

The Hauppauge HD-PVR is by far the best option for capturing HD video onto your pc or mac period. It can capture 1080i HD video with surround sound. It is a little pricey however at 8 on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Hauppauge-1212-Definition-Personal-Recorder/dp/B0018LX0DY/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1233979101&sr=8-1 but I have 2 of them for doing HD cable on my HTPC and I love it. Although it's pricey it captures really nice HD video with surround sound in H.264 format. Even at 0 its still the cheapest option currently on the market for capturing HD video. It really is your only/best option. Plus it works on windows and Mac. Oh, PS Apple TV does not capture video and I'm not sure if the slingbox Pro-HD software for mac is out of beta yet. Basically go with the HD-PVR you wont be disappointed.

Recording XBOX 360
I demonstrate how I setup recording XBOX 360 games using the Slongbox Solo and Player for Mac along with Snapz Pro X......and, of course, an XBOX 360.
Xbox 360 Call of Duty 4 Gameplay Recorded On My Mac
This is my first attempt of actually recording in game footage with this setup on my Mac. First of all, if' you're gonna be a troll and post you suck comments, don't bother. I'll take a peice of your ass, then delete them. But I digress..... To accomplish this recording, I have my Xbox 360 connected to my Slingbox Pro via the HD connect cable. The Xbox 360 component cable (Red, Blue & Green) is connected to the video in on the SlingBox, and another component cable goes from the video out on the SlingBox to my HDTV's component input. The SlingBox comments to my router and streams the video signal over the network. You use the SlingBox software SlingPlayer to display the video on your Mac. Once setup, you then use a screen recording software ie Snapz Pro X or Screenflick to record the video. While the SlingBox software does not yet support streaming HD on a Mac, the video still looks pretty damn good, and the aspect ratio is native 16:9 and I can still play in HD while recording. Yes there are other ways to record gameplay on Mac's with capture cards like the Elgato EyeTV Hybrid that I have, but in using them, you can not record in the Xbox 360's native aspect ratio 16:9, but you also are forced to game in SD or Standard Definition. Using a capture or TV tuner is a good solution for say, the Nintendo Wii, older and previous-generation consoles that are not made for hi-def and connect to TV's using the composite (Yellow, Red & White) cables is perfectly acceptable. I hooked up my Slingbox Solo to my Xbox 360 using Component HD cables. REVELATION312 gave me the idea with his great tutorial on setting it up, here is the link: www.youtube.com The Slingbox Solo does not stream in HD; the reason I use the HD cables is so I can continue to play in HD while I record in normal resolution. I used the desktop recording program called Screenflick to record my gameplay onto my Macbook. This video is sort of a review for people who want to see what the video quality is like on the non HD version of Slingbox.
