What set top box can I use to stream videos from my PC?
Question by scr2000ge: What set top box can I use to stream videos from my PC?
I want convert my DVD's to XVID videos using Handbrake but I want to be able to stream them to my TV from my PC. I thought that's what the Slingbox was but apparently not. Does anybody know what box does that? (I don't want to buy an XBOX)

Slingbox goes from TV to PC... but SlingCatcher (same company) will do what you are asking.
There are a few others, Apple TV, PS3, TiVo.... I am not sure if ones like Roku can tranmit PC video.
You can always get a video card that allows you to connect directly to the TV ...
and don't hate on the XBox, you can get it for a resonable price now and it also allows for streaming Netflix movies.
I also know that FIOS allows streaming of pic and music with their Multimedia STB (not sure about video).
There are a lot of options. Decided what you want as well.
PS3 gives you a game and bluray player.
Apple TV is expensive for what it does.
TiVo requires subscriptions.
There are a lot of choices out there.

You want to buy a digital media receiver or extender and for $199, an xbox is the best out there. But if you don’t like xbox, check Linksys and HP they both sell media receivers/extenders. The Ps3 can do the job as well.
