WHIZ TV Live Fair Coverage ENG with Trango/Slingbox
WHIZ began remote broadcasting in Aug 2007 using a Slingmedia Slingbox with trangolink10. This particular set-up utilized a Telex 2.4 gig camlink beaming the camera shot back to the production van. The A/V fed a trangofalcon A/V transmitter in the 2.4 gig range. That signal was beamed about 150 yards to our news van (ENG) on the hill above the Muskingum County (Ohio) Fairgrounds. Once the A/V was received, it went into a Slingbox and was converted to a data stream (4.5 Mbps) and sent back to the station about 4 miles away. This video one of the 40 report done that week. Developing the Slingbox technology for live ENG via broadband wireless was developed by station chief engineer Dan Slentz and engineer Bill Hicks.
