Setting up a Slingbox at a remote location

2 posts in this topic

I will shortly be starting an expat assignment in Korea and would like to arrange to have a US TV feed while I am there. I would like some advice as to how feasible the approach I have in mind is. I would like to purchase a Slingbox Pro HD for my father to install at his home on a second DVR reciever that he would hook up to his Fios feed. Due to he and I being separated by several time zones he would need to administer the Slingbox on his network and my PC will not be on the same network. Would I be able to set-up my PC to watch this sling box by simply using the Slingbox ID on slingbox.com? Would there be someway to get this signal onto my actual TV in Korea? Thanks for any insight.

Yes this is possible. Not sure what your stream will be like in Korea but you wont know till you test.

You will need to setup your slingbox for internet viewing. You will have a password and ID to connect from your pc/laptop. You will need to download the slingplayer software and register for a sling account. After you have this it is a matter of logging in with your email address and password then adding your slingbox with your unique id and password.

As for put the stream directly onto tv. There is a box called slingcatcher this basically plugs into your internet and your tv and is displayed on your tv rather than your pc.

Hope that helps.
