I know there is a hack to use 3G with the 3G iPhone, but is it possible to use sling with 3G connection on iPhone 3Gs?
or is jailbreak required??

Theoretically, the same can now be done on the 3Gs but I've seen numerous reports that tricker3G isn't working and is messing up Slingplayer Mobile.
This is the only reason I previously jailbroke my 3G so I think I'll wait a bit and let them work out the bugs before jailbreaking my 3Gs.

How to Use Sling Player with 3G
With the recent release of the Sling Player application for the iPhone/iPod Touch and finding out that it only works over wi-fi, this dissapointed quite a few of us. However, there is now a solution to this problem for people out there with jailbroken iPhones. Here is how to get the Sling Player application to work over 3G.
For this there are two methods.
The first involves downloading a ‘tweak’ from Cydia called Tricker ThreeG (but looks like Tricker ThreeG was removed from the Cydia app.)
The second method is different and a bit more challanging. If it was me, I would just do the first one.
1. Download Mobile Substrate, OpenSSH and VoIPover3G from Cydia.
2. Navigate to /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries using the SSH or any other file manager.
3. Backup and then edit the file called VoIPover3G.plist using a text editor.
4. Look for this part of the file:
Filter = {Bundles = (”com.Fringland.Fring”, “com.apple.AppStore”, “com.audiofile.Interstate”, “com.apple.MobileStore”);};
5. Add in the following to the file just after:
“com.slingmedia.SlingPlayer”
6. It should now look like this:
Filter = {Bundles = (”com.Fringland.Fring”, “com.apple.AppStore”, “com.audiofile.Interstate”, “com.apple.MobileStore”, “com.slingmedia.SlingPlayer”);};
7. Save the file and reboot your iPhone.
Slingplayer will now work over 3G!
Enjoy!

And can you confirm, does VOIPover3G work on a jailbroken iPhone 3GS?
