i am new in this. I would like to start with the system and purchase a sling box. what do i need to set up a system here in usa and be able to watch programs in germany?

Which configuration do you have in USA? if it's a standard one... choose a SOLO one... if you have enough upload for HD... choose a PRO-HD one ;-).
