Can't Use Remote Control On Tablet While Using Roku?

When I use my Android tablet to send my Slingplayer signal to a TV via Roku, the remote control on the tablet disappears. The only way I can change anything on the home TV, such switching channels or starting the DVR, is to stop the Roku signal,
